patches Posted July 9, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 9, 2019 Is this a 20th Armored Division coat/jacket it's on? Cause the ID of it being the 469th Armored Field Artillery Battalion is a bit problematic, seeing that the artillery components of the 20th Armored Division were the 412th, 413th, and 414th Armored Field Artillery Battalions, and that there was no 649th Field Artillery Battalion, Armored or other wise active in WWII. A 469th Field Artillery Battalion was in existence it wasn't an armored one, and it was first activated in 1947 in the Army Reserves in Wisconsin, and they didn't have a DI till 1954, this unit was activated for the Korean War, serving somewhere in the states, I believe at Sill, unit returned to the reserves and inactivated under CARS, 18 May 1959 in Milwaukee. DI for the 469th FA Bn adopted 11 March 1954.
