Short brim HBT cap question

I need some help in identifying this cap... WWII vintage ?

Army or Marine Corp/Navy? It is a center seam so I am leaning towards Army.

Does this look like a factory short brim or has it been cut down?

The HBT weave looks like Army but I thought I read where the USMC also used this weave on caps(??)

Thanks!

Looks like the standard army one.

The marines wore them if they could get their hands on them.

The first Marine issued/manufactured was the P44 cap.It had a longer brim

Will add if its been shortened it may have been done if the front was frayed or heavily worn.I have seen this done on a couple of caps from the era

Also not uncommon to have these made on a local lever or even in Japan from shirts or trousers.I have several hbt caps that very in quality or construction that were locally produced.

Thanks, Ron

I saw another thread on the swing caps and saw that they were more puffy (as good a term as I can think of) on the top.

This one just looks like a short brim 8 pointer. Any idea of age? WWII or newer?

Any idea why they were favored by the Marines?
