mikie Posted June 24, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2019 I recently picked up this photo of The USS Daly, launched in 1942. It was part of a small group that belonged to one of the original crew members. It is sealed into the frame with staples. I found the backmark on the photo about as interesting as the photo itself. Doing some research on Our Navy, it seems it was (is?) a magazine for the US Navy since the 1890's. My photo looks like it was printed in connection with the magazine, but can't find a direct link. I found photos of other ships with the same type of frame and backmark, so they must have been sold like this at the time. Does anyone have any information on these "Our Navy" photos? It's just another odd thing that caught my attention. The writing on the picture is hard to make out, but I can make out something about "the Hutch". The USS Hutchins was another Fletcher class ship that was in the same destroyer squadron as the Daly. Thanks to anyone who knows about these things. And hope you enjoy the photo.
