ironsights66 Posted June 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2019 Ive had this helmet since I was eleven years old, I bought it from some guy at the wahnemackers gun show in tulsa for a measly $40. At the time it was just a shell, ive since added a reproduction liner because there wasn't anything left to discard of the old one. Anyway, I have never been able to identify the unit marking and was hoping one of you experts could.
CWG Posted June 21, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2019 Maybe some form of the 1st division marking? Like a regiment in that? Just my thoughts.

I have thought similarly before, just cant really find anything that would verify that hunch
Nickman983 Posted June 21, 2019 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2019 Maybe 91st ID? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/US_91st_Infantry_Division.svg/1920px-US_91st_Infantry_Division.svg.png Though most of the 91st ID M1917s I've seen have just been the tree, sometimes with the
ironsights66 Posted June 21, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted June 21, 2019 Maybe 91st ID? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/US_91st_Infantry_Division.svg/1920px-US_91st_Infantry_Division.svg.png Though most of the 91st ID M1917s I've seen have just been the tree, sometimes with the 91 I've considered that as well but i haven't seen a picture in which the tree is any color other than green, however as non-uniform these helmets were marked I suppose it is possible

patches Posted June 21, 2019 Share #11 Posted June 21, 2019 It's now used today for the 2nd Brigade as a Formation Sign, it was downgraded from a division apparently years and years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_Brigade_(Ireland)
