Me and my wife will be attending a militaria show in the Oklahoma City area. Any good militaria shops or antique stores in the OKC area or surrounding citys?

Hello,

Personally, I'm not aware of any good militaria shops here in Oklahoma City or Oklahoma for that matter. In my ventures across the state during the time I've been here (since 1984), I've not found any shops dedicated to militaria. As far as antique stores, all the ones I've been in around the state, I could probably count on one hand the number of military items of any significance I've seen. Same goes for when I search Craigslist or any of the other online local marketplaces or when I've been to the local gun shows. Every time I go into an antique store I usually ask, "Do you have any military items?", and usually the answer is no, or it's a junk piece that no one would want. If someone had the inclination and money, they could set up a militaria shop in Oklahoma City and probably do rather well. Most of the items I've purchased have been off Ebay over many years or here on the forum from other members. With all that sad news, there are quite a few antique stores here in Oklahoma City that carry non-military items. Maybe some other forum members from Oklahoma City or surrounding areas can chime in because they know something I don't. Good luck and please do enjoy your visit to Oklahoma. Maybe I'll see you at the show as I usually go to it.

Also, here's some pics, etc. from the Heartland Military Show in Chickasha, OK from 2017 and 2018 if you're interested.

Yes, I did. It appeared to me that turnout at this sale was very good. My wife and I got there about 9am when it first opened. By the time we left most of the parking places were taken. There seemed to me to be slightly more vendors and tables this year as well as more goods to look at. I was close to getting finished looking and about to leave when I found a nice grouping to a WWII soldier. It's actually the first time I've purchased something at the sale and this is my third time going. My wife got done looking a lot quicker than I and went to the truck to read. All-in-all, I enjoyed once more looking at everything on all the tables. There weren't any military vehicles this year to look at unfortunately. I really liked that last year.

There used to be a decent surplus store across the road from the main gate at Tinker AFB. This was at least 20 years ago. I thought it was named Charlie's or something like that. They used to provide props for movie studios among other things. I remember them because along the ceiling they had several hundred USAF unit patches, many from the Vietnam era. They already had them priced through the roof (almost literally!) at $35 and up. If I'd known how prices were going to go, I would have bought an handful. It would be a shame if they were gone.

Yeah, we probably did walk past each other. I probably would've stayed a little longer but I didn't want to leave my wife too long in a hot truck. After we left there we went and I had a good burger and my wife had a good chicken fried steak at one of the local restaurants there before heading home. No, I didn't take any pictures this time. Last time I mainly took pictures of the military vehicles they had on display and they didn't have any this time. Hope you enjoyed your visit! -- Matt

Our lunch was great! We went to Mama Carol's Kitchen at 625 S 4th St. It was packed when we got there but we got lucky and found a table right away. I thought everyone in Chickasha was eating lunch at this place, it was so crowded. By the time we left it had thinned out a little bit.
