Justin Posted June 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2019 Hi forum friends. Can anyone help me ID this jacket? This picture was taken in Khe Sanh in early 1968. This jacket appears to be the type you see marines in Hue city wearing under their body armor. You can always see them wearing a water proof trouser made of the same material. The white interior stands out when the sleeves (or trousers) are cuffed. Does anybody know if this is an issued piece of field equipment? They are seen in very large numbers in Hue city. Anybody know anything about them? Many thanks in advance
vintageproductions Posted June 16, 2019 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2019 There were civilian made pieces like this that seem to turn up in numerous Vietnam groups.
usoverlord Posted June 16, 2019 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2019 I was issued one very similar, the difference being mine has a zipper. I still have it also.

usoverlord Posted June 16, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2019 Here you go. It also has velcro sleeve and pocket closures. It's pretty ratty nowadays cause the mice got after it years ago. I kept it for sentimental value anyway.
usoverlord Posted June 16, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2019 I found a picture of myself wearing it also.

gwb123 Posted June 17, 2019 Share #10 Posted June 17, 2019 The jacket in the first photo is different from the issued wet weather jackets. Please note that it has button snaps for closure, rather than a zipper. As for the issue one, I'm surprised it has lasted in any condition. I recently saw a poncho marked: Poncho W/Hood Indigenous with contract April 11 1967. It was made of a lighter material as had small white snaps as seen in the screenshot I posted.
