MattS Posted June 15, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2019 My son picked this up (I'm so proud). Looks like a Kevlar PASGT with modified liner and straps (from Oregon Aero) and a USAF ABU cover on it. Can't imagine many airmen need to wear a combat helmet. Pretty cool find I thought!

MattS Posted June 16, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted June 16, 2019 That is pretty cool! Thanks! I'd like to think I taught him well, he got it cheap too ($50).
Rhscott Posted June 16, 2019 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2019 Looks like a ACH cover and looks installed backwards.
MattS Posted June 16, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted June 16, 2019 Yes, it has the straight attaching Velcro straps (ACH) and not the looped-around (PASGT) ones. So the flap goes to the rear? The backside of the "Oregon Aero" tag says "BLSS KIT 95040", that kit retails from the manufacturer for $139: https://www.oregonaero.com/helmet-upgrades/ballistic-helmet-upgrades-ordering
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted June 16, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2019 On an ACH the flap goes on the rear, its intended for a very rarely used MICH radio. On this PASGt, whatever way it fits. Neat helmet, wonder who used it.
DocCollector1441 Posted June 16, 2019 Share #8 Posted June 16, 2019 All airmen going overseas in a combat zone would have been issued one regardless of the need to wear it or not. The fact that it has an ABU cover is pretty cool because my station is still issuing BDU or DCU unless you are Security Forces.

phantomfixer Posted June 17, 2019 Share #12 Posted June 17, 2019 and his last tour...with the newer uniforms, the flap on the front was to protect goggle lens from dust...At least that is what he told me...guy at the far left has the flap up front
