digi-shots Posted June 10, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2019 I read through the SOG Knife thread and didn't see this question addressed. Does anyone know if the original SOG Presentation knives were engraved or acid etched. (both the SFG insignia and the *5th...Vietnam* wording) ? Sorry, no pics, but I saw one recently that looked like an original unmarked SOG knife but might have had later engraving done. Can anyone post some good pics of the SFG insignia and the lettering - especially 5th and (Abn) lettering. Were the presentation sheaths a bit different? Some of the sheath photos I saw posted showed a decorative thin line stamping around the sharpening stone pocket - whereas other sheaths were plain. Thanks so much! digi-shots Posted June 12, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted June 12, 2019 Just a follow up... I did learn that the original presentation knives were etched (perhaps acid etched) with the SFG insignia and the wording. Some knives can be found without a personalized name while other will be found with an engraved name.
