mds308 Posted June 10, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2019 I have long been familiar with the Women's Air Corps (WAC's) but I never knew about the U.S.A.F. - W.A.F. I believe they originated after WWII in 1948 and ended in 1974. Is this 10K ring connected to the Air Force College? There are NO initials inside the ring. An interesting gold ladies ring. Rey rarely did you ever see anyone wearing one that had been out of boot camp more than a month. I used to strongly recommend that my recruits NOT buy these as they would not wear them much after they got to the fleet. I never saw them available anywhere other than recruit training commands (but, I never looked for them either). Think of them as High School Class Rings. Usually, they are non-unit descript, made from gold filled or sterling and undated (this ring is 10k and embossed dated 1972). sac9743 Posted June 23, 2020 Share #9 Posted June 23, 2020 Sorry to be so late to the party, but those rings were sold at the BX at Lackland, I'm sure on hand for new recruits. We bought them as class rings when we graduated from basic. I purchased the same ring (dtd 74) there in Oct 74, (which was subsequently stolen a few years ago; just had it resized from 6 to 6-3/4 ). Also, the WAF program ended in 1976 when women were accepted into the USAF on an equal basis with men, as well as into the Academy. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
