I thought I would find this one easily as it is on a KW Garrison/Overseas Hat, but I've looked at all in our Forum Ref + about 2000 others "US Army Heraldry" etc and no luck. It is a clutchback with N.S. Meyer New York markings. Do you know? Richard

According to ASMIC Medical Distinctive Insignia Catalog its for the 338th General Hospital.

I had to use the ASMIC Charge List first. The DI has two buffalos on a red shield with a red

cross. Hope this helps.

It's an old design for sure, here's it's contemporary version, note it depicts one of the buffaloes in the center, do not know when this newer version was adopted.

Hmm. Not seeing a 338th General Hospital in WW2 or Korean War era for overseas credit.

This being from Unit Citation and Campaign Participation Register PAM 621-1 July 1961 which covers WWI and both WWII and the Korean Conflict, do believe it lists only those units of every type that were overseas in a combat theater, but not those that remained in the states.

You'll have to ZOOM in on it, it was a large file that I had to shrink down to post it.
