Here is a photo I have had in my accumulation for awhile, it was taken in Arizona and is of a possible mounted infantry?
The interesting items are the moccasins and the Schofield in his belt.

That cavalry top is in awesome condition! I knew they had a 5-button front by then, but I thought some had an external pocket on the left chest? Was that a later model?

When this blouse (Pattern 1890, 1st Variation, made somehow as a trial in not more than 2,000 pieces, May-June 1890) came out, the 5-button design already existed since almost sixteen years.
Earlier steps toward having external pocket(s) was perhaps much ill-received, and anyway not made for lasting; with this latest Pattern the blouses got back to, first one inside pocket (left side breast, the 1st Variation) and subsequently one more at right-side breast (2nd Variation, starting in September 1890).
