johnsonlmg41 Posted June 5, 2019 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2019 They are more accurate than described and not all that much recoil. A lot of urban legend that is in nearly every article about them. I've owned a few and shot one of them. They are a neat piece of history.

They weigh very little and there isn't much surface area in contact with your hand. Shooting a 230 grain projectile is punishing. I won't speak to accuracy but the originals had no rifling so they are a short-barreled musket.
WWIIBuff1945 Posted June 13, 2019 Share #8 Posted June 13, 2019 Interesting article Matt thanks for posting. You reminded me I still needed one for my collection so I bought this one today! I had one years ago and regret selling it. I had cleaned it up with Flitz which made the metal too shiny. I think I'm going to leave the patina alone on this one. It still has the original floor plate which is usually missing. I saw only one for sale and the guy wanted $200 for it. There are repro's available for $40 I believe. But I can hear you telling your wife now, "Yeah honey, but Matt reminded me I still needed one for my collection so I bought this one today!". Nice...I'll have to remember that one. LOL Seriously, congrats on picking that one up. Better hang on to it this time buddy.

WWIIBuff1945 Posted June 21, 2019 Share #13 Posted June 21, 2019 $200?? They usually go for $1500 on GB and other auction sites. Great deal! I paid $1000 for the pistol. The $200 I was talking about was for an original extra floor plate I saw for sale. z
