An interesting read regarding the Guide Lamp FP-45 Liberator single-shot 45ACP pistol.

They are more accurate than described and not all that much recoil.  A lot of urban legend that is in nearly every article about them.  I've owned a few and shot one of them.  They are a neat piece of history.

Really!?  I've shot one and would not shoot it a second time.  They weigh very little and there isn't much surface area in contact with your hand.  Shooting a 230 grain projectile is punishing.  I won't speak to accuracy but the originals had no rifling so they are a short-barreled musket.

Interesting article Matt thanks for posting. You reminded me I still needed one for my collection so I bought this one today! I had one years ago and regret selling it. I had cleaned it up with Flitz which made the metal too shiny. I think I'm going to leave the patina alone on this one. It still has the original floor plate which is usually missing. I saw only one for sale and the guy wanted $200 for it. There are repro's available for $40 I believe.

You're welcome Keith.  But I can hear you telling your wife now, "Yeah honey, but Matt reminded me I still needed one for my collection so I bought this one today!".  Nice...I'll have to remember that one.  LOL

Seriously, congrats on picking that one up.  Better hang on to it this time buddy.

$200??

They usually go for $1500 on GB and other auction sites.  Great deal!

I paid $1000 for the pistol. The $200 I was talking about was for an original extra floor plate I saw for sale.
