usmedalman Posted May 26, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2019 A friend asked me to put this up in hopes of finding out more about this airman and the awards. I have never seen an AAF DUI before, nor such a patch, so I was unable to provide any help to him. From this unit yearbook it appears that Harold J. Salani was a 1LT at the time the photo in the book was taken. Since he has a PH, I can only assume that after his stint as an instructor pilot was over he went to an operational command. The medals appear to be privately engraved. But, I can't explain the GCM unless he was an enlisted man and received his commission after flight school. Any ideas or info on Salani, the First Troop Carrier Command or any of the items would be greatly appreciated.

Yea, I wish there was more than just a head-shot of him so I could see his ribbons, that might provide a clue. My friend picked up the group in a shop in Brisbane, Australia of all places.
