917601 Posted May 20, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2019 I was digging through my pile and thought these would be of interest. The round bottom is a 75mm Skysweeper AA round and the raised driving band one is a Walker Bulldog 76mm HE. Both fall in the " unobtainable " category. From the old Yuma Ordnance Depot I am told. Notice the " "SS" stamp, designates " safe steel" , inert, with EOD types. Yuma had huge scrap yards of ordnance as they did much developing of ordnance in the 60's, 70,s. Projos hard to find, the steel cases extremely rare. Many like brass cases, but steel cases rarest as they rusted out years ago.

917601 Posted May 20, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted May 20, 2019 Remarkable piece of armor. From the Korean War thru Vietnam 1972. Considering Cadillac ended production in 1954, it served another 20 years, much like the M42 40mm Duster, which served much longer till the 80's, another one of my notables. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/M41_Walker_Bulldog
pzjgr Posted May 21, 2019 Share #7 Posted May 21, 2019 Nice! How about a shot of the rounds together? I have a steel Skysweeper case, probably never find a projo, might just stick a regular M48 HE in it....
917601 Posted May 21, 2019 Author Share #8 Posted May 21, 2019 Okay. Notice the 76mm Bulldog driving band is not visible, it is seated into the case and only the raised ring is visible when loaded. Much like the 105mm HEP M393.
917601 Posted May 21, 2019 Author Share #9 Posted May 21, 2019 Note seating and driving bands. Glad I pulled them out of the crate, they need to really be displayed with the WW2 era ordnance I have.
