beerdragon54 Posted May 20, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2019 I don’t believe Springfield Research service is still going. Anyone have a way to trace civil war serial numbers to see if records exist to show where they were delivered to? Charlie Flick Posted May 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2019 SRS is, as far as I know, still in business. Here is a link to its site with instructions on how to get the info. http://springfieldresearchservice.com/ I think you now have to subscribe to the Martial Arms Collector Magazine to be able to get any response for data. That is a big change from the way that the SRS founder Frank Mallory and his successor Charlie Pate handled things, and it is not a good change. You can still search the published SRS books on serial data to see if your guns number appears there. If so, that might allow you to justify the cost of subscribing to the Magazine since you will know that there is something to be found. Apart from some books (like Pate's recent book on the Colt Model 1860 revolvers), I am not aware of any other source of Civil War era serial number data besides the SRS data.
