USARV72 Posted May 19, 2019 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2019 Have one, used it in the display with the Nagasaki map. Years ago knew an older Japanese lady at work. Took anything Japanese to her ,she would translate writing. She said the Bomb Notice leaflets basically said something similar..... Cities listed on this paper contain military targets of the Japanese military, they will be destroyed. The United States urges citizens to leave these cities with their families, honor their parents so they can live. Nice piece.
wildcat123 Posted May 19, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted May 19, 2019 Are they tough to find? Thx for the info!
gauthieb3sxz Posted May 19, 2019 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2019 I've had several of these - they are not easy to find!
USARV72 Posted May 19, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 19, 2019 Guess it depends on how long one has been collecting. USAAF collectors 30+ years ago had them, most likely why they are hard to find today? The older Japanese lady that translated it said they were used for toilet paper, lol.

Herbf Posted May 27, 2019 Share #8 Posted May 27, 2019 Those were designed on Guam and thus have no code number. They were printed in Saipan by the OWI and their actual number is 2106 though it does not appear on the leaflet. Curtis LeMay asked for them and three were printed. each had a different set of cities though some cities appear on more than one leaflet.
