I too thought it might be German made, patches, but I wasn't positive. It is about the same size as a standard SSI.

What made me say German as a firs thought is the novelty of it, flat edge border and all, late 50s 1960s right, and the shape of the Taro leaf is similar to German made ones from this period.

The back just looks US or Asian, usually with the German ones youd expect to see a more tightly woven back.

Yes could be Japanese too, if anything when the division was back in Japan when it was pulled out of combat in early 1952 on, Just said German for the reasons mentioned, plus there were or seemed at least one or a few German made patches that had backs kinda like US ones, see post #84 for a 11th Abn Div attached tab one.

Excellent thread, Reguardless this is a cool patch. Im guessing its for an inf regiment under the 24th division.

If it is say for a Battle Group (Post 1958), or Battalion (Post 1963), or before in the late or immediate post Korean War period it would have to be a for lack of a better word, a Novelty patch for this unit, cause if a unit patch like this was worn, it would be the pocket patch, based exactly or in part on the unit crest/coat of arms of the unit.
