This is being offered on ebay. Seller says it passes black light but then in description states that recent reversed star patches are modern production. What does forum say?

Just my opinion I do not like it the front stitching-embroidery looks if I were to use a word compressed. The back looks as others have said not like anything you would normally see on a Mars.Just my opinion my 2 cents worth.Scotty

Someone paid $260 for it and it was someone with 7 thousand transactions on ebay. Was curious as to what others thought and completely agree with Scotty and my friend from Washington that it is not a good piece. The trimming of the patch was very suspicious to me in that it was so sloppy. The warped look of the patch which fits into what Scotty was saying about it looking compressed. This patch could be a problem to alot of collectors if uninformed.

I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion. I think its real, despite the fact that it looks fishy at first glance. I have one exactly like this that came out of a collection sealed away since 1946 or 47. Everything was glued into two large format photo albums and turned up at an estate sale in Virginia. Most of the patches were US made, but it included some theater made a few very rare ones (OD border 101st, etc), definitely not something put together to deceive.

Here is a photo of the page, it came on. I've shared photos of the entire albums before here on the forum, but it was about 4 years ago.

CORRECTION: The patch is identical in design and construction, nearly stitch for stitch, except it the white part is rendered in tinsel bullion.

PS: Before someone asks, YES, the it is constructed with the same mesh backing

Thanks Vance for the information. Maybe the point should have been if you saw this patch standing alone without the advantages and information that Vance had in that it was part of an untouched group, etc would you pull the trigger? Expensive risk with no consensus from forum.
