rhill13 Posted May 8, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 8, 2019 I’ve got this trouser with date tags or stamps inside except a size on the waist and a quartermaster tag but no info. It’s different from the m1951 pants I’ve seen on here due to no pocket flaps, extra cords sewn on the side, and loops on the side pockets. The zippers are talon on the front sides and conmar on the front zipper. Is this a later version of the M1951? Allan H. Posted May 8, 2019 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2019 Those are cold weather trousers, sometimes called "arctic trousers." They appear complete with the button in liner. I would imagine that these date to the 1970's. Allan
rhill13 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted May 9, 2019 Thanks Allan. The only thing that I don’t see on the m1951 or the 1970’s variety are the loops on the side hip pockets and the lack of flaps on the upper side pockets. rhill13 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted May 9, 2019 Here’s the liner. Both inside and out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
doyler Posted May 9, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2019 The material and buttons are older and remind me of the M43-M51 field jackets. The quilted liner is unusual but gives clues....later liners were of the Frieze wool type. The zipper pockets are like those of the Ww2 era Mountain/Ski trousers...… What you have (in my opinion) is the early trousers that go with the Ex-48 parka. rhill13 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted May 9, 2019 Each pocket had a new leg tie not sewn. The crotch has the same loops as the leg pockets at the same height. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

doyler Posted May 9, 2019 Share #11 Posted May 9, 2019 As trousers go you have a fairly rare set for those who collect them.
rhill13 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Share #12 Posted May 9, 2019 Wow. Nice digging guys. I had a hunch that they were something experimental but couldn’t find anything on google. This pant doesn’t have any tag like those in that other thread but it look spot on. This is where it should’ve been if it once had one. Allan H. Posted May 9, 2019 Share #13 Posted May 9, 2019 Wow! Additional photos sure change things. They are undoubtedly earlier than I previously surmised. I would agree with Doyler on the age. The camo material looks to me like WWII German camo parachute silk. I'd guess that these were probably made/ modified in Germany after WWII for use by US forces. rhill13 Posted May 10, 2019 Author Share #14 Posted May 10, 2019 How often do these these experimental uniforms come up? I can’t find much on them when doing a general search. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
