Here’s a uniform that from the outside looks like a rather ordinary postwar officer’s uniform, however with a quick search online, tons of obituaries and fantastic info can be found on the late George Frederick Lowman. Lowman got accepted into Harvard and graduated in 1938, then later graduating from their law school in 1942. Upon his graduation, he enlisted and fought through five campaigns during WWII, including Operation Dragoon. For his service during WWII, he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star with “V” device. He retired from the army in 1970 as a LtCol, climbing all the way from the rank of Pvt. during his initial service in WWII. After his career in the army, he became an influential member of the company known as Farrell Lines, a notable steamship company of the 1970âs and 1980âs. His leadership as a CEO of this company earned him the United Seamenâs Service 1998 Admiral of the Ocean Sea Award, which further led to his induction into the International Maritime Hall of Fame. A year after this, Mr. George Frederick Lowman passed away at the age of 82. Mr. Lowmanâs sacrifices for our country during WWII as well as his great influence on the maritime world will never be forgotten.
