You may already have this as a possibility but I found this obituary on the Internet. The obituary doesn't specifically mention service with the 101st Airborne Division but does mention 20 years service in the US Army with Airborne Infantry and Special Forces units in the US, Germany and SE Asia.

Lloyd “Jerry” G. O’Daniel of Springfleld VA was born in Ashton, South Dakota in 1939 to Lloyd and Marion (Vanderbilt) O’Daniel. He served 20 years active duty in the US Army with Airborne Infantry and Special Forces units in the US, Germany and SE Asia, retiring from active service in 1979 as a MSG E-8. Served with Special Forces units including the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th SF Groups.

While assigned to SE Asia with Special Forces (Green Beret) he served with Det, A-106/C-1, MACVSOG (Special Operation Group), and Project 404. His three years with SOG included assignments to Khe San, Kontum, MLT-1 at NKP, and OP-35. His duty assignments included Recon/Spike Team one-zero. Hatchet Forces, Covey Rider (call sign “Durango”), and the Laotian Desk in OP-35.

Lloyd received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Soldier’s Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and the Air Medal with “V” for combat actions. He also received a Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge, and Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Nice! is the 101st patch in country made?

Any patch ghosting on the left sleeve?

Thank you, yes it is.

I can't see shooting on the left sleeve other than what appears to be a rank patch that was removed. Over the name tape however there is ghosting of what appears to be a SVA jump wing.

This is great, I was not able to find him during my search. Is there anyway to be sure?

Thank you!

Thats what I was thinking but Lloyd ODaniel served all his Vietnam tours with Special Forces.

I can't find many O'Daniel's that served with airborne units.

Is Lloyd out of the question?

LukeStevens

what's the puckering like on the back of the tapes?

Looks like they were put on with different thread to the other patches.

Sometimes people add stuff on to restore a jacket.

not saying this is what happened here but it could be.
