UNKNOWN PIN

I'm almost certain that the pin is from the WWI time period and that PTR or P.T.R. stands for Provisional Training Regiment. Also, that the crossed cannons would indicate artillery. I've not been able to piece together exactly how the 9 and 2 (possibly 92nd) goes along with the Provisional Training Regiment. You might want to post a picture of the back of the pin so members can see what kind of pin/catch it is or if there's any additional hallmark markings.

I have to agree with AZNATION, the crossed cannons I can for sure tell you is artillery. I have 2 new ones from my friend who is a Maj. in the USMC, commanding an artillery unit. The pin is most definitly pre Ww2 But I've never seen one with a open circle behind it. All the ones I've seen are either just crossed cannons, or crossed cannons on like a button solid back ground. I've even seen one with a missile in between the cannons. I believe its called a cartouche. I did find one as such but it is for an armory dating to 1794.
