USMC-RECON0321 Posted April 21, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2019 What resource are you determining 1950's heat stamp numbers from?
Theriddler Posted April 21, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 21, 2019 The area where Ive gained most information on 1950s M1 Shells is Mark Reynosas book Post-World War II M-1 Helmets. From reading the book Ive been able to determine that between 1951-1958 McCord was the only company to produce M1 shells. From further research on the internet and this Forum Ive been able to establish that during this period McCord identified heat lots with heat stamps that consisted of a Letter (M) followed by a series of numbers finishing with another letter for example A, B etc. McCord also subcontracted its work out to the Motor Wheel Company and their stamps consisted of three letters, MWA and a series of numbers. I was hoping that guys with 50s M1s in their collections could add pictures of their helmets heat stamps to this post so I could an impression of the various types of heat stamps produced during that time period.
