Here is a  pair of medals with a fantastic story. I bought the medals, not the story...they were fair enough. Now to check the story. Was told the story that these medals belonged to a nurse. Her name is Gertrude Watson. She was also ? wounded? Several people have the accesses to info that I do not, and my traveling has increased 10 fold, limiting my time I can search.  Well, is it family lore ? or is it true? Acquired directly from a family member. the numbers are M.No. 2678 and 10142 IMG_3032.jpg

Mexican Border Service Medal "10142" was issued to 1st Lt Russell S. Kendrick, New Haven, Michigan.  There is no Gertrude Watson on the Border Service roll.

The Cuban Occupation Medal is untraceable (as are the vast majority of "M.No."-numbered medals).

That is not a Mexican Border Service Medal. It is the Spanish War Service Medal. Unfortunately, I don't have that list.

Looking up the Spanish American War Medal #10142, it was issued to a Henrietta S. Watson, Nurse, 3rd Division, 4th Corps.

Hope this helps.

Kurt

She fell down and hurt her hip in Georgia . She did indeed see occupation service in Cuba.

Great find.  I wish the currently issued awards had the quality of the older issued ones.
