The Rooster Posted April 10, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2019 HI Costa, I saw that one. A couple of weird things. The seller says they have 3 left and the 3 left are not necessarily the wing you will get. I wrote the seller a letter and asked them to post pictures of the 3 remaining wings front and back. Personally Im not throwing 40 bucks down on a wing grab bag. Plus the seller says they are marked sterling but no makers mark. They could be good? They could be junk? But yea this one looks like a Gemsco.. But if you buy it.. Its not what you might get. Scroll and read the fine print... Just make sure you are getting the wing pictured... "This is a stock listing, therefore, the one pictured may not be the one you receive. Each brooch is in nearly identical condition." Whats that mean? The Rooster Posted April 10, 2019 Share #8 Posted April 10, 2019 YES PAUL, I KNOW. LONG DAY, MY MIND IS GETTING WORN OUT. I went to visit my big Sister and she likes to go to Antique shops... We hit 3 or 4 in about 8 hours and when we got back I was totally wiped out. I said to my Sister... "Im wiped out!" and I dont know why? She said it was because we prob looked at thousands of items and it wears out your brian! I believe it! Maybe you need a day or two vacation from collecting? I know its hard. But maybe a short break will give your eyes and mind a rest for a day or two? I hope you get the Gemsco my friend. It does have an awesome sterling mark never saw before!!! Still no reply from seller about posting pics of the remaining wings. I guess it will be a surprise grab bag???
pfrost Posted April 10, 2019 Share #9 Posted April 10, 2019 There are at least 4 patterns of Gemsco wings. I suspect that the top "type 1 and 2" wings are pre/early war. And the bottom (the most common) is probably WW2 vintage. There is a 4th pelican beak wing that is more than likely KW vintage.

bschwartz Posted April 10, 2019 Share #11 Posted April 10, 2019 Well the top one is the pick of the litter and a huge steal for $40. IMHO of course.

jeff41st Posted April 12, 2019 Share #14 Posted April 12, 2019 Costa - I guess the seller was confused. You should be getting the Gemsco and the "pick of the litter." I purchased the bottom two in the above pic. They just arrived in the mail and filled a couple of holes in my collection
