JasonT Posted April 6, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2019 Looks like a great find. This might be your guy, the only name that matches in the WW2 enlistment records: https://www.fold3.com/page/87058940-george-p-rosenkranz/facts You may want to order his records to confirm his service. It's a great piece of history if you can confirm his unit.

aznation Posted April 8, 2019 Share #9 Posted April 8, 2019 You're welcome J. Yes, I believe it's legit. I like it. I'd like to know what all is engraved on the canteen cup if you have the time. I can't see everything from the pictures.
Bob Hudson Posted April 8, 2019 Share #10 Posted April 8, 2019 Spending three years solid overseas would make any GI ask WHY?
Simon Lerenfort Posted April 8, 2019 Share #11 Posted April 8, 2019 The style of engraving is consistent with originals. Nice find.

phantomfixer Posted April 8, 2019 Author Share #14 Posted April 8, 2019 I wish I had more of a back story but sadly nothing, just a cool find...is it odd that he was able to enlist with a missing finger on right hand, based on his registration card
aznation Posted April 8, 2019 Share #15 Posted April 8, 2019 I'm guessing it wasn't his trigger finger that was missing.
Bob Hudson Posted April 9, 2019 Share #16 Posted April 9, 2019 I wish I had more of a back story but sadly nothing, just a cool find.. You know the dates he entered and left foreign service, and the locations visited along the way: there must a division or other large unit which matches that service and locales. I can't imagine too many Army units spent three years non-stop in the Pacific. Autumn 1942 looks like a time when the US sending lots of Army units to the Southwest Pacific in response to the Japanese development of airstrips closer and closer to Australia. phantomfixer Posted April 9, 2019 Author Share #17 Posted April 9, 2019 I was thinking AAF ATC for the logistics routes...but that is the AF in me, and with a missing finger, not a combat or front line kinda guy?
