OK, I'll bite. I'll start by telling you that they are a VERY poor quality wing, but that being said, I think they are original. They appear to be die struck, but what an example of shoddy workmanship!

I'll give you my opinion as I collect variations of the US glider trooper wing and I agree that this one looks like it was finished poorly using I'm guessing a set of needle files. If you look at the spaces above and below those straight wings of the glider body whomever was finishing this piece left some excess metal flashing in some areas and filed off a little too much in other areas. You can't see the tires like you can on all other British made US glider trooper wings because they look like they were filed off. The upper left wing strut is missing as well again due to probably too much filing. I noticed the slight bend in the straight wings of the glider body on the left hand side. I don't know if this is part of the original die or if it got bent somehow but it is in a spot where I would think it would be hard to bend. I think the pin back assembly is original to this wing as it is the same style used on some unmarked British made glider trooper wings as well as the JR Gaunt British made US glider trooper wings. The one difference is the position of the spring portion of the pin which on most you come across come out at the bottom of the tube base while it is upside down (comes out at the top) on your wing. Most of the British made US glider trooper wings have some kind of silver finish on them but this does not have any finish. I've come across three different distinct unmarked British made US glider trooper wings as well as the JR Gaunt and Ludlow marked British made US glider trooper wings. Your piece is different in the width of the glider fuselage body. Your piece is narrower than any of the other British made US glider trooper wings that I have come across. So is it a rare variation or a copy as so much bad stuff have come out of the UK over the years. I'm not sure.

Yeah, they’re not perfect but somebody definitely spent some time and money to make dies. I didn’t notice the really small details like the wheels and the strut as I didn’t look that closely at them. I’ve only ever had one other set of wings but they were US made.

Looking forward to what others say.

How can a die struck wing have flashing?

All Die Struck Wings have flashing that needs to be clipped off and ground off. If you look at the edges of a die struck wing, you can see the grind marks. Even if they have been really polished,(Which most are not,), you can stil see it in the spots where its hard to get to with a polisher.

Cast wings have no flashing to remove, thus not lines(Grind marks) on the edges. I use a magnifying glass if they are hard to see.

The workmanship in finishing is bad but the pattern itself is pretty cool! Very Intracate. All the details. Even though the wheels etc are off the feathering and the metal

twirls where the edges meet that arc under the glider. Nice Details!!!
