LuftStalg1 Posted April 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2019 Well I am surprised no one has chimed in. I think the obverse is beautiful and the very small amount of plating that is MIA along the top edge adds a bit of character. The maker marking is soft, which is a good sign. The fakes always seem to have nice crisp maker marks. The reveres is a bit odd with the splotchy oxidation. And the lower edge looks weak/soft like casting. The top edge looks sharp but more pictures would help. Not to give mixed messages here but those are just some observations. Overall I like it! Kilroy56 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 2, 2019 Thank you for your input Mark. These wings look fine to me but I am far from being an expert. Here are some close ups... More opinions welcome.
Allan H. Posted April 2, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2019 These look just like the original bombardier wings that you posted previously. I don't know where this shop is that you are buying from, but they would undoubtedly be on my "visit often" list if I were local! One thing about the faked British made wings- they NEVER have the original frost on them. Allan
Kropotkin Posted April 2, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2019 They look good to me too. Here’s an aircrew example on Bob’s site. It has the same diagonal fault line on the rear as on yours which looks like a die fault: http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/aircrew/quetelgauntaircrew.shtml
