Thor996 Posted March 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2019 Library sales are great things, I picked this neat little tome up for a buck. Well worth it! Another great read for you military history bookworms out there and others who may have little heard of this American Hero- Eddie Rickenbacker. Well written, not footnoted and boring or laborious to read, but well researched, flowing and wonderfully presented. A page turner you won't want to put down. Follow Eddie from his humble, rough and tough Columbus Ohio roots, into his ascent into the nascent sport of automobile racing, then into the cauldron of The Great War and beyond. I strongly recommend "Enduring Courage Ace Pilot Eddie Rickenbacker And The Dawn Of The Age of Speed" by John F. Ross. If you are a fan of the early days of automobile racing, early aviation, and enjoy a great read about a TRUE American hero, pick yourself up a copy of this book or get it for that youngster who needs a summer book to read - "He came to see danger as something to be interrogated, not defied, which helped him hew the fine line between timidity and arrogance. Before military scientists broke down human reactions to danger into probabilities, the early combat flier needed to settle his own uneasy relationship with risk, glory, death and killing".....
