Research found this post from 2014: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18604-vietnam-era-usmc-bedroll-straps/ Mine seems to be identical to the strap in the post marked #5 and ID'd by Justin. First pic shows the strap next to a 18 inch ruler. Mine has a P stamped on the buckle. With all due respect to Justin, I am asking for a second opinion on mine. Any help is much appreciated. I believe almost all my bags with the purple 1952 - 1953 ink stamp have square hardware including the bed roll straps that came with them with.
