Costa Posted March 19, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2019 a mystery wing---- from the daughter of a vet, her dads wings. this is a heavy wing and thicker then the usual you find. the pin opens all the way back and looks to be brass color. the back of the wing is smooth with NO hallmark or sterling mark. does not appear to be a cast junker. what is it?? pre ww2, ww2 or post??? Kropotkin Posted March 19, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2019 I’d say late 30s, early-war graduation wing.
mghcal Posted March 19, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 19, 2019 +1 for what Kropotkin said. Here's another identified example on Bob's site. http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/btw/us/presleytownsend.shtml

Kropotkin Posted March 19, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 19, 2019 It’s a really nice pilot wing design for my money. I have one of these and an observer with the same heavy pin and fixings. The weight and chunkiness of it is pretty pleasing. And while it’s not maker marked, sterling hallmarked or a rare wing it’s one of my favourites. Costa Posted March 19, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted March 19, 2019 I stand to be corrected--- the name of the vet was not S--- that is the daughters married last name.
