smwinter207 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted March 16, 2019 I think the seller came out ahead, after fees. But barely.
Wake1941 Posted March 16, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 16, 2019 Lol barely is a complete understatement it was a fantastic sale for a great piece. I for one can say as well that stuff on the FS section is fairly price and brings more on eBay more often than not
vintageproductions Posted March 16, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 16, 2019 Also, and I will say it again, it is not blood cake or windproof pattern.

smwinter207 Posted March 16, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted March 16, 2019 Ask the shady seller. From the original listing, I think we could have allowed more questions about his 'blood cake' claims. But there are rules I guess.. So, what about the patch? S

vintageproductions Posted March 16, 2019 Share #13 Posted March 16, 2019 The pattern this flight suit is made out of is without a doubt the rarest pattern to ever come out of Vietnam. It makes windproof/blood cake and monster pattern look as common as washed out / used erdl. This pattern was only available in one or two tailor shops and I personally have only seen a sports coat ( with SOG pocket patch), a boonie hat and two berets made out of this material in 35+ plus years of collecting Vietnamese camo. It is so rare there is not even a collectors "nickname" for it. It is based on a Malaysian brush stroke pattern that was probably brought back to Vietnam by someone who went through the British jungle school in Malaysia. The patch is also real and is exactly how it should look from this early time period.
irish Posted March 16, 2019 Share #14 Posted March 16, 2019 Thanks Bob for a description of this pattern, rarity and its likely roots back to the Vietnam conflict. I was having trouble following this and another thread related to the suit. Lots of criptic talk left me a bit confused.

manayunkman Posted March 16, 2019 Share #18 Posted March 16, 2019 The patch has a Navy look to it with a cat on the water.
vintageproductions Posted March 16, 2019 Share #19 Posted March 16, 2019 He was a Naval aviator according to one topic I have seen posted. That's interesting as that patch has always been associated with special forces in about the 1964 era.

vintageproductions Posted March 16, 2019 Share #25 Posted March 16, 2019 That's interesting. I would if he was attached to the early pre-1965 SOG, or has the patch been mis-identified for years.
