Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and hope I am posting this in the right place. I recently came across this USMC Tunic and am attempting to ID it. I was told that it was purchased in the 70s from a uniform company in Columbus, Ohio. It was then used for theater and film openings. I am assuming it is original 1940s or earlier and eventually wound up being sold and used for films. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice tunic, but I think it is LT G ? Smith, not LTGen. Would like to see if the stars are marked and what the fasteners are. (IMO) they could've been added for "theatrical" purpose.

I hope you find your guy and more info about him.

Yeah, there actually was a Marine lieutenant general in WW2 named Smith, but of course his initials were H.M. The others were Holcomb, Vandegrift and Geiger.

Thanks for the help clearing everthing up. Looking at it now I see Lt. G. J. Smith. Not sure what I was thinking before hand. I do not have the tunic but will try to find out what markings are on the insignia.
