Help ID ribbon from WWII Air Corps lot

hello I am trying to ID this ribbon with number 9 or 6 added to it, the orange in the center is just aged cello tape so the ribbon is pale yellow and light blue stripes beside the stripes are white and yellow woven checks 

 

this ribbon was included in a shadow box with English made 8th Airforce patches and wings and a 2nd airforce patch

Well, I have been looking and looking and so far haven't found a match! Super interesting. I hope an answer is found, as I am intrigued!

So far I can't find anything British that looks like this design. Also, that backing (the slide with the pin) certainly looks different. Think that would be a clue!
