BEAST Posted March 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 11, 2019 Thought I would post a recent acquisition from AGM. According to the folks at AGM, it is circa 1911, and is attributed as having belonged to James C. Frain from South Bend. I found a 1918 article that mentions Pvt Frain as being part of a recruiting party for Company F, 3rd Indiana Infantry. The ties were cut off, but I am really happy to add this to the collection! BEAST Posted March 11, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted March 11, 2019 I am looking for a clear photo of this guidon in use, but this is the closest that I have found. This is the photo of Company H, 3rd Indiana Infantry taken at Fort Benjamin Harrison in 1914. Note the guidon next to the tent.
Mr.Jerry Posted March 11, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 11, 2019 Very nice- Congrats on getting it. I saw that one as well, If that was a WI one I would have grabbed it! but I am trying to focus on WWII as much as possible. The early ones are awesome though! BEAST Posted April 15, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted April 15, 2019 Here is another example of an Indiana Infantry Company guidon. It is from Company H, 3rd Indiana, the same company as shown in the above postcard but may have been taken earlier. Although, in the previous photo, the guidon it is hard to see the design, I believe the guidon shown in this photo is different. This guidon has the Company letter at the top and the regiment number ("3") in the middle of the X.
