The image in this post comes from a recent acquisition: the cover of a 1947 history book on the history of Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro.

The matchbook cover is also in my collection.

The hardcover yearbook type publications were printed up after the war and sold to men who had served in the unit. They are loaded with photos and document the unit's history during the war. I have similar books for the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion (seabee), the 78th Naval Construction Battalion (seabee), and the 13th Armored Division. I also have the 1943 edition of Capstan, which was published by the first class of the United States Naval Reserve Midshipman's School, Notre Dame, Indiana. All contain examples of the unit's Disney-designed insignia. The Capstan contains a Disney illustration.
