kfields Posted March 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2019 I visited a small shop here in Ohio and bought this belt plate for $5. The old fellow had no recollection of who he got it from. It's a rolled brass blank and measures about 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches. It also came with the little card with what looks like it could be inventory numbers. This all may be an elaborate hoax and is fake-fake-fake but just thought I would show it here for an opinion. At least I didn't pay $55 or $155 or $255...ha! museums Posted April 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 22, 2019 Without knowing with more certainty where it was dug, I doubt you'll ever be able to be confident it's truly Confederate, but if it's really from Virginia, it looks as it should for what the tag claims.
