Found an estate sale yesterday: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/324300-estate-sale-finds-from-today/&do=findComment&comment=2604869

I decided to go back today in hope of buying the flight suit for half off and was successful:

After searching google, i'm inclined to believe this is in fact a ww2 era item. Are these uncommon? I don't see them very often, and this thing is pristine. I passed on buying it yesterday because I didn't really know what it was and it looked so new, I questioned it's authenticity. Well, I'm glad I was ignorant because it saved me some money. Somehow, nobody picked it up yesterday and I was able to get it for 50% off on the last day of the sale which was today.

It came from the estate of John H Tynon(cherokee) https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/12189911/john-houston-tynon .

I bought one of his tunics as well, but left the rest which included his blues, all the pants, and covers which I sort of regret but I just gotta draw the line somewhere. Hopefully someone picked them up that will take care of them. I did see a guy wearing a 1st cav div cap walking in with his wife as I was leaving. I'm hoping he got them.

If you contact the estate sale company and the items didnt sell they may make you a deal. The tag sale people here typically donate any left over items to a host of charities here.Mainly a couple thrift stores like Catholic Charity and Salvation army.Just saying they may take a reasonable offer.

Jesse,

That M-426a flight suit is indeed a WW2 US Navy item, a nice size, and apparently little, if any, used. The contract NXS-7288, by Berk Ray Corp. NY, was in effect from June to August of 1942. The tunics you showed in your other tread are also of WW2, or Korean War, vintage for a member of Naval aviation with the rank of LT. If he was a pilot, the wings appear to have been removed from both the dress blue and working green uniforms. The newspaper clipping provided shows him with the rank of Ensign, with which he would have been commissioned. LT is two ranks higher, so possibly a post-WW2 rank for him.

Regards, Paul

Thank you Paul,

It's an even earlier production than I thought. I wish I could give some information on him, I know there were a lot of cherokees that served as code talkers during ww2...

The Veteran's BIRLS File listed his service dates as 3 Feb 1943 - 28 Oct 1946.
