Haven't read through all of the material yet but thought i would share it none the less.

 

Lots of letters home and lots of correspondents from the Brother to the war department etc... after his death. His life insurance policy is even with the paperwork.

Interesting archive, to a man who sadly had his life cut short at the young age of 29. RIP and Thank you 1st Lt.

engraving is not pretty.somebody added something black to it which shows every imperfection. i haven't seen one like this before..

The engraving on the Purple Heart is not official government engraving, so it may have been a replacement for a lost original Purple Heart at some point. A poignant group!

Dave, I agree, a replacement would be my bet. Vintage PH with later engraving. Very cool group nonetheless.

 

The docs, pic, and the letters are amazing.
