aznation Posted March 2, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2019 Anyone happen to see this one on EBay? Does that set a record for an ashtray I wonder?

Dave Posted March 2, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 2, 2019 A 4.5 POUND ashtray? That must have been a one-off piece that was made for something special. Pretty cool. $607 cool? Not for me...but for others, perhaps...
aznation Posted March 2, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted March 2, 2019 Maybe it was sterling silver to weigh that much. In the description it says it is 7.5" wide and 1.5" high.
ajbUSWM Posted March 2, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2019 yes.. must be sterling silver .. it is worth $922 meltdown value.
aznation Posted March 2, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted March 2, 2019 Hopefully, melting it down is not why someone purchased it. That would be an awful shame.
manayunkman Posted March 2, 2019 Share #7 Posted March 2, 2019 How do you know it's sterling?
ocsfollowme Posted March 2, 2019 Share #8 Posted March 2, 2019 I think it is sterling too by the patina. Presentation piece to the Commander. Probably will be scrapped.
manayunkman Posted March 2, 2019 Share #9 Posted March 2, 2019 I deal in plate and sterling and no sterling buyer went out on a limb for this. Unless it's marked or tested, the description says so and guarantees it. It looks stainless steel or chrome plated.

manayunkman Posted March 2, 2019 Share #11 Posted March 2, 2019 Or two people who collect items from the Swordfish wanted it.
V42 Posted March 5, 2019 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2019 That's the way it goes in auctions. You may pay more then it really is worth. It looks to be chrome plated or stainless steel as there is no indication it's sliver. Never know just how bad someone wants it or will pay for an item. Some guys just have very 'deep' pockets and maybe this was no big deal for him. Who knows.
