Any information in regard to this cabinet card photo appreciated. Hat has a S C in a wreath badge.

It is 1880- 90s time period.  I wouldn't assume that the "SC" is for South Carolina.

 

Based on the photographers location in KY, I believe it is some sort of school in that area.

Thanks. The largest military school in Kentucky was KMI [Kentucky Military Institute]. There was also a school at Millersburg. I would guess that the man could have been visiting from anywhere. Another good argument for folks to label their pictures.
