MastersMate Posted March 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2019 In the 1970s US Navy great one for all uniform experiment, the service dress blue enlisted uniform were designed in two different weights of cloth, for summer or winter usage. The weave of the cloth looks to be about the same type as used to make the summer weight blue service dress. Some USN members from that time period may have more first hand insight. Those items made for enlisted had standard issue tags. This is a commercially produced item, maybe for sale in the Exchange, maybe for anyone, maybe for Officers. But, yeah, looks pretty much 1970s+. tarheel1 Posted March 1, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 1, 2019 We had those same ties in NJROTC in the early 80's. TH1
sigsaye Posted March 1, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 1, 2019 Just a note. I was in the USN when this uniform change happened. I hated it. I held out until long after the Mandentory Wear Date@, and had to be directed to go buy the new uniforms only wore it when absolutely required, (wore my jumper uniforms whenever I could). Was glad to see it replaced with the jumpers again.
