JesseJames Posted February 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2019 This is a picture of my grandfather. I'm not sure what the badge furthest to his right arm represents. I know the other is his rifle qualification. Can anyone ID it? And does anyone know if these would be included in a set of replacement awards from the USMC? Thank you. Bruce Linz Posted February 23, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 23, 2019 Those are standard issue Marine Corps Marksmanship badges. Expert Rifleman and Marine Corps Basic Qualification Badge. The picture has been reversed since those badges are worn over the left breast pocket. Semper Fi, Bruce Linz

I just took a picture of the picture. While looking at his separation papers, I see the expert rifleman listed with a score of 310. Taken from wiki-a score of 305–350 is required for expert, 280–304 for sharpshooter, and 250–279 for marksman. Do you think those will be replaced with his medals through the USMC? 7thEvac Posted February 23, 2019 Share #6 Posted February 23, 2019 They don't replace qual badges, I don't think. I didn't get my Dad's, just his medals and ruptured duck pin.

I'm going to mention it to NARA before they forward the request, and if i'm successful, i'll definitely report back. Did you make sure they were aware?
