268th C.A. Posted February 20, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 20, 2019 Here's one that happened to me. Moving around Texas. I was in the process of moving from one house to another, I placed some items in a storage shed barn at the new house. The owner said it was fine. So I locked my things inside. When I came back a couple boxes were gone. Stolen. I wrote it off to stupid and live and learn. One of the items was a print that a friend of mine I knew from my time in North Carolina signed to me. Robert Morgan, pilot of the Memphis Belle. Signed to me personally...dang. Well I'm in an antique mall 15 years later, in Lewisville Texas. There on the wall is my signed print. same ugly frame I put it in temporally. I was mad and glad at the same time. Not wanting to purchase my stolen print back. I went to the store clerk and told here to have the owner of the booth call me, and explained why. I left mad. I came home and told my wife later. She said are you sure, of course I am. I told her. I knew a police officer in the city and was thinking about reporting it. Then I remembered I did not ever report it stolen. dang. .. I waited a month no calls. I went back and it was gone! Figuring Ok now they moved it to another location. I just dropped it. Writing it off again. A moth later I open this large object at Christmas, My wife had sent my nephew to get it. So After 15 years it came back home. Now I reframed it where it hangs today. My old buddie Robert Morgan is gone, but I'll always remember him. Karma...I wonder if Robert had something to do with it coming back....

aznation Posted February 20, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted February 20, 2019 That's even a greater story David. I'm sure Robert quite possibly did have something to do with making sure your Memphis Belle print back where it should be.

V42 Posted March 4, 2019 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2019 What's the chance of finding his lost uniform in a store three years later. That's great for him.
1canpara Posted March 5, 2019 Share #9 Posted March 5, 2019 I had a similar incident when I was in an army surplus / antique store in a small town about 5 hours from where I live and found my dog tags for sale from my army days about 20 years earlier! I couldnt believe it! I can only guess that they had been moving around after my Dad sold a bunch of my BDUs at a yard sale and my tags were in one of the jacket pockets. My girlfriend was with me and spotted them first, saying hey look, this guy has the same name as you! It was weird and funny at the same time! What are the odds? I told the store owner that they were my dog tags, showed him some ID and he laughed and gave them back to me!
