Cpl. Punishment Posted February 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2019 I was recently contacted by a local VFW who wanted to give me a few items which had been donated to them. Upon arrival, I was absolutely blown away! I was given items from Gifford B. D o x s e e who served in the 106th division during WWII. Gifford was sort of a local hero, and was very involved in POW and 106th division organizations. There is an endless amount of readings and personal memoirs of Giffords. Gifford was a POW alongside Kurt Vonnegut, who authored Slaughterhouse 5. Here are a few poor quality photos of what I was given, but this only shows the main items. Cpl. Punishment Posted February 18, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted February 18, 2019 Gifford is second from right. Notice the 1903 Springfields! Gifford talked about how they were issued old gear, as the government scraped the bottom of the barrel. This photo was taken shortly before he was taken prisoner. Gifford is second from right.
