Found it in the box with WW2 USMC patches. Not sure if it's WW2.

I don't mean to take over this thread but my questions seem to fit here.  I'm pretty new at these ega's and I've been studying and reading everything I can, including buying the Klie book.  A couple of basic questions if I may:

1)  Is there an easy way to tell the difference between officer collar ega's from WWI vs 1920's vs 1930's vs WWII?  Shape, size, metal, markings, makers?

2)  Why is it that there are different sizes (at least seems to me that way) of officer collar ega's in this period?  Anywhere from an inch to about 1 3/4 inches in size?

Thanks in advance for any help.  Apologies if questions are too simple.....or too complicated for a simple answer!

Cheers,

Terry

Before 1956, there was no standardization of emblems and, so long as companies conformed to the basic requirements (separately applied continents for officers, bronze metal, etc), they were free to exercise artistic license in their designs...there are literally dozens of distinct patterns with variants numbering in the hundreds. The only 'easy' way to tell the difference of eras is to study them, eventually it only takes a second or two to make the determination.
