A new find! :)

8x10 Hand tinted studio portrait of a WWII enlisted submarine sailor and Silver Star recipient.

Photo has a handwritten message to his family and signed, "Lucky."

It is also signed by the studio, Roy L. Anderson Seattle.

Salvage Sailor

China Service Medal with star

The Navy China Service Medal (CHISM) is a decoration presented to members of United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard who served in China from July 7, 1937 - September 7, 1939 or served from September 2, 1945 - April 1, 1957. Service members who served in the Asiatic-Pacific area from September 2, 1945 - March 2, 1946 may be eligible for the award if they did not receive the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Individuals who participated in operations during both time periods are authorized to wear a bronze Service Star on their award ribbon.

Great photo! Would almost have said possible 'TROUT' sailor, but lack of a Philippine Defense precludes that.

Love it! Aside from the awards, never seen a sub qualified jumper with gun pointer combo.

There was one on Etsy a few years back, a GM1c if I recall correctly.

Fantastic photo, BTW.
