Captainofthe7th Posted February 13, 2019 Share #29 Posted February 13, 2019 Those helmets are beautiful. I absolutely love the 2nd one and I can see why it took so long for him to part with it! One quick question: Is the liner in the battle damaged one a ww2 one or a Korean War one? It's a 1951 dated Capac (refurbished Westinghouse, I think). Thanks! The shell is a ww2 reissued M1 helmet that has 2 other names on it. It's really neat

Captainofthe7th Posted February 13, 2019 Share #34 Posted February 13, 2019 Sorry to double post, I hit the button twice by accident. I have been thinking of Moul's helmet and if he was wounded at Inchon I would suspect 7th Division and probably actually wounded in Seoul within the days surrounding the initial landing. I'm very curious to know more about this one! Rob

usoverlord Posted February 15, 2019 Share #39 Posted February 15, 2019 Newby helmet enthusiast here. Over the past several months I have become acquainted with several very very knowledgeable individuals here and thank them emphatically for there willingness to share their knowledge. Also some of those same people have become friends, and have parted with some really nice items. Here are a couple Korean War medic helmets. The previous owners will recognize them I'm sure. 1canpara Posted February 15, 2019 Share #40 Posted February 15, 2019 Heres a couple of mine....both airborne and both with interesting backgrounds... This officer was in the 509th in WWII, jumped into Southern France, fought in Italy, Central Europe, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland. He was wounded in the Bulge and later went onto fight in Korea, and was wounded on Heartbreak Ridge while assigned to an infantry unit. This one belonged to an officer in the 82nd who had a very diverse career path including acting as a UNPIK advisor.
