scottplen Posted February 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2019 My Nephew actually picked this up for me cheap on eBay for me helping him do some work on his house !1st Cav GO# 44 (1950) I believe he was KIA defending CP receiving SS for this action .On the night of 29th CCF forces attacked in force overrunning 1st Bn CP and aid station on the 8th Army east flank near Sinchang-na Korea .The 7Th Cav regt. Survived the battles of 29th and 30th the perimeter was restored Bn losses were38 killed107 wounded11 missingEnemy losses exceeded 1600Looking for his Purple Heart !His Mac letter to his wife sold on eBay recently also . He was also a WWII Vet serving in 80th Division receiving Silver Star and Bronze star for his command of 80th Division at battle of the Bulge . Finding a photo is proving difficult. It's possible there are 1st Cav yearbooks out there from the occupation period. I have never seen one, but if they exist and your Colonel was with the unit then it's a good bet. I had a 24th Div vet mail me a copy of his 19th Inf yearbook from 1949 to copy.
